He is a life member of the Alumni Associations of both universities and has served as President of the Washburn Law School Association. Mr. Johnson has been recognized for many years by his peers in Kansas, Missouri, and the United States as one of the best trial attorneys in the country. He is currently rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and has been rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell since 1976. Mr. Johnson shares his expertise by being a frequent lecturer/presenter at trial attorney continuing legal education events throughout the country and has made more than 100 CLE presentations over his career. He has served as President of the Kansas Association for Justice (formerly Kansas Trial Lawyers Association), is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Johnson has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America from the 2nd Edition through the 26th Edition (2020-2021), and has also served as the Chair of the Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission (July 1, 1993 through June 30, 2001).
